When you're on the go, eating healthy can be a challenge. Many of us spend a lot of time behind the wheel, making quick stops at convenience stores while refueling our cars on the way to the next event. With the battle against obesity at the forefront, Americans are increasingly seeking healthy options, especially those that are high in protein and low in carbs.

So, what do convenience stores offer beyond the usual soda, candy, and chips? Here are some great choices:

High Protein and Low Carb Options:
  • High Protein Drinks: Brands like Muscle Milk and Fair Life are excellent choices.
  • Beef Jerky: A classic high-protein snack.
  • String Cheese: Convenient and packed with protein.
  • High Protein Bars: Options like Quest and RXBAR are both tasty and nutritious.
Healthy Snacks:
  • Oh Snap! Pickled Vegetables: Pickles, pickled carrots, and pickled peas offer a crunchy, low-calorie snack.
  • Fresh Fruit: Many c-stores now stock pre-cut apple slices, grapes, and pineapple.
  • Nuts and Seeds: Almonds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds are nutritious and filling.
Other Tips:
  • Yogurt: Greek yogurt is a great choice for a protein boost.
  • Vegetable Chips: Opt for baked or air-popped varieties for a healthier crunch.
As we move into the warmer months, it's encouraging to see more fresh and healthy options becoming available.
