Intern Spotlight: Caleb Peterson

Jul 22, 2025

Meet Caleb Peterson, our grain operations intern this summer in Dorchester, Nebraska.

Caleb is from Osceola, Nebraska, and is attending Doane University, majoring in Agribusiness. He anticipates graduating in May 2027.

Why did you choose to intern at Farmers Cooperative?
The location is close to both Doane University and Crete, which made it a convenient and accessible opportunity for me.

Why did you choose this specific internship?
I enjoy being outdoors every day, and this internship gives me the chance to gain valuable, hands-on experience in agriculture.

What has been the best part of your internship so far?
My favorite part so far has been learning how grain is moved and monitored daily - especially seeing how the process of loading trains works.

What are you most excited about with your internship?
I'm looking forward to building relationships with my coworkers and learning from their experience throughout the internship.

What are the day-to-day tasks in your role?
On a daily basis, I help with unloading and loading trucks, measuring grain height in the bins, and checking the quality of the grain.

What is your summer internship project?
My project is to create plans to build an addition to a grain drag to aid in the flow into another grain bin below it.

What are your plans after graduation?
My plan is to return home and take over the family farm.

Fun fact?
I graduated with a high school class of just 13 students.

We’re glad to have Caleb on board this summer and look forward to seeing the contributions he makes during his internship!
