Intern Spotlight: Carson Saathoff

Jul 30, 2025

Meet Carson Saathoff, our safety intern this summer in Dorchester, Nebraska.

Carson is from Hastings, Nebraska, and is attending Concordia University, majoring in Business Administration. He anticipates graduating in December 2025.

Why did you choose to intern at Farmers Cooperative?
I grew up on a farm and helped to haul grain to my local coop, so I was interested in seeing the day-to-day activities of a cooperative.

Why did you choose this specific internship?
I like solving problems and helping people. I thought this would be a good opportunity to learn more and develop those skills.

What has been the best part of your internship so far?
So far, it’s been visiting all our different locations and meeting with the managers.

What are you most excited about with your internship?
Seeing all the professional and personal growth I will make by the end of this internship.

What are the day-to-day tasks in your role?
Currently, I'm spending time updating the Emergency Action Plans and Risk Management Programs for all our locations. I also help with setting up the weekly New Hire Orientations.

What is your summer internship project?
I’m updating and creating new Risk Management Plans for our Anhydrous Ammonia Plants.

What are your plans after graduation?
My plan is to go back and help on the family farm.

Fun fact?
As a kid, I had a pet turtle named Franklin—yes, like the cartoon.

We’re glad to have Carson on board this summer and look forward to seeing the contributions he makes during his internship!
