Intern Spotlight: Dawson Burenheide
Jul 10, 2025

Meet Dawson Burenheide, our agronomy operations intern this summer in Frankfort, Kansas.
Dawson is from Firth, Nebraska, and is attending Kansas State University, majoring in Agronomy. He anticipates graduating in May 2026.
Why did you choose to intern at Farmers Cooperative?
I chose to intern at Farmers Cooperative because they have several locations around southeastern Nebraska, which I’m familiar with. I also wanted to get real-world experience working with a company that’s connected to the local farming community and learn more about agriculture firsthand.
Why did you choose this specific internship?
I want to hopefully get a job in agronomy one day, so this internship helps me to gain a more complete understanding of how the agricultural retail world works.
What has been the best part of your internship so far?
I love meeting new people and getting to understand a new and different part of the agricultural world.
What are you most excited about this summer?
Learning more about how chemical and fertilizer operations work in a cooperative setting.
What are the day-to-day tasks in your role?
I help in assisting with operations, field scouting, and filling or loading trucks with seed, chemical, or fertilizer.
What is your summer internship project?
My project includes tissue sampling alfalfa after putting on different biological applications to see what's most effective for growth.
What are your plans after graduation?
My plan is to work in ag retail in southeast Nebraska.
Fun fact?
I have had the opportunity to work for three different agricultural retail companies.
We’re glad to have Dawson on board this summer and look forward to seeing the contributions he makes during his internship!
