Intern Spotlight: Devin Helmerichs

Jun 22, 2026

Get to know Devin Helmerichs, one of the agronomy operations interns from Frankfort, Kansas!

Devin is studying Agronomy at Kansas State University.

Why did you choose to intern at Farmers Cooperative?
I chose Farmers Cooperative because my family has been doing business with Farmers Cooperative for as long as I can remember. Being able to pursue an internship that involves the work I grew up around feels like a natural fit for me.

What has been the best part of your internship so far?
The best part of my internship so far is getting to go out and check fields, being in the middle of a field where it is quiet, and you can feel a nice breeze is so relaxing.

What are the day-to-day tasks in your role?
Day-to-day tasks include scouting fields, handling and treating seed, driving from branch to branch to grab supplies and chemicals, and anything else my mentor needs help with.

What is your summer internship project?
I am working with five growers to scout their fields and come up with individual management practices for each of them, as well as doing a trial with Ascend, a plant growth regulator.

How did you find out about the Farmers Cooperative internship?
I found out about the internship from a career fair!

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I own a 1970 Mustang that I take to car shows.

We’re excited to welcome Devin to the team this summer and can’t wait to see the impact he’ll make throughout his internship!
