Intern Spotlight - Grant Jansen

Jul 18, 2024

Get to know Grant Jansen! He’s from Gretna, NE, and is this summer’s agronomy operations intern out of Filley, NE.

Grant intends to go to Southeast Community College in Beatrice to earn a Precision Ag Certificate and take other ag science and agronomy classes.

Why did you choose to intern with Farmers Cooperative and why did you choose agronomy operations?
I chose Farmers Cooperative because it’s a well-known ag business and I was curious to learn more about the company. I grew up around agriculture and always had an interest in it, so I decided to lean into it and see what I can learn here.

What has been the best part of your internship so far?
My favorite part so far is being able to figure things out and being trusted to do tasks on my own. We’re only a couple weeks in and my boss already trusts me to treat beans while he’s out working on other things.

Day-to-day activities in your role:
I deliver seed and chemicals to farmers, treat beans and fill tenders, etc.

Post-graduation Plans:
I’m not exactly sure what I’ll do after college, but going back to the family farm would definitely be an option, or I’ll continue working at the co-op.

Fun Fact:
Depending on the day, I could have an hour and fifteen-minute drive to work.
