Intern Spotlight - John Burgett

Jul 17, 2024

Get to know John Burgett! He’s from Lewiston, NE, and is this summer’s precision intern out of Hallam, NE.

John studied Diversified Agriculture and earned his Precision Ag Certificate at Southeast Community College - Beatrice.

Why did you choose to intern with Farmers Cooperative and why did you choose precision ag?
I chose Farmers Cooperative because it’s a local company and I have family that works in this company as well. I chose Precision Ag as my focus for my internship because I have a cousin who does the same thing at another company, and he seems to really enjoy it.

What has been the best part of your internship so far?
I’m most excited to get my drone license so I can get hands-on experience with drones.

Day-to-day activities in your role:
We usually go out and put some soil probes in. We’ve done a couple of weather stations and sprayed pastures. We also do maintenance on the drones and use them for fungicide application.

Post-graduation Plans:
After graduation, I plan on finding a full-time job at Farmers Cooperative or somewhere similar.

Fun Fact:
I showed cattle in 4-H for over 10 years.
