Intern Spotlight: Natalie Trauernicht

Jul 22, 2025

Meet Natalie Trauernicht, our energy sales intern this summer in Cortland, Nebraska.

Natalie is from Wymore, Nebraska, and is attending the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, majoring in Agricultural Economics. She anticipates graduating in December 2025.

Why did you choose to intern at Farmers Cooperative?
One of my friends had an internship at Farmers Cooperative a couple of summers ago, and they really enjoyed it, so when I had the chance to talk to the team at a career fair, I decided to. We hit it off from there, and the rest is history.

Why did you choose this specific internship?
I always knew I wanted to be involved in agriculture, I just didn't know how. When I saw the energy sales internship, I thought it would be an interesting way to get involved in agriculture.

What has been the best part of your internship so far?
So far, the best part has been just being able to do such a wide variety of things. From riding around doing client inventories with my boss to performing customer service phone calls on my own and even driving the forklift around the warehouse, I have already been able to see and learn many different things.

What are you most excited about this summer?
I will be going to a Cenex conference in Minnesota that I am really excited about.

What are the day-to-day tasks in your role?
So far, every day has been different, which has made this internship super valuable and interesting. There really isn't one thing that I am in charge of daily because I will be doing so many different things within my role.

What is your summer internship project?
I am conducting a customer service phone survey that will hopefully lead to sales leads and seeing ways we are doing well or that we could improve in the energy department.

What are your plans for after graduation?
For now, I plan to find a job doing something I enjoy in the ag sales world. That is why I am doing internships to learn what I do and do not like, so I can find a job that is a good fit for me after graduation.

What is a fun fact about yourself?
Although I do not have any interest in becoming a custom applicator, I do hold a commercial applicator's license in the state of Nebraska.

We’re glad to have Natalie on board this summer and look forward to seeing the contributions she makes during her internship!
