Jul 10, 2025

Meet Shaylee Vering, our feed mill operations intern this summer in Beatrice, Nebraska.
Shaylee is from Marysville, Kansas, and is attending Southeast Community College, majoring in Agribusiness. She anticipates graduating in May 2026.
Why did you choose to intern at Farmers Cooperative?
I knew Farmers Cooperative from buying feed from them, and this internship seemed like an interesting opportunity to get to know more about the feed world.
Why did you choose this specific internship?
I bought show pig feed from the cooperative and wanted to see what steps went into the making of feed, as well as the distribution and marketing of feed.
What has been the best part of your internship so far?
Learning about the unique and complex computer system that the feed mill runs on.
What are you most excited about with your internship?
I’m looking forward to seeing all the different parts of the feed and cooperative industry.
What are the day-to-day tasks in your role?
Some of my daily tasks include weighing feed and using the computer to program the different feed types.
What is your summer internship project?
I’m working to rewrite and summarize all the information about the different drugs used in a variety of animal feeds.
What are your plans for after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to find another internship to help me gain more knowledge about the agricultural industry, as well as find a full-time job in a feed mill.
Fun fact?
I don’t like French fries or Ranch.
We’re glad to have Shaylee on board this summer and look forward to seeing the contributions she makes during her internship!
