Intern Spotlight: Tyree Figge
Jul 24, 2025

Meet Tyree Figge, our feed sales intern this summer in Beatrice, Nebraska.
Tyree is from Onaga, Kansas, and is attending Kansas State University, majoring in Agriculture Economics and Animal Science/Industry. He anticipates graduating in May 2027.
Why did you choose to intern at Farmers Cooperative?
This internship opportunity aligned with me and what I wanted to do with my life. I also believe in the company and what they stand for. They seem like and are very producer and family-oriented. They want to see all their producers and communities succeed. I wanted the opportunity to be able to learn and intern at a company that holds these beliefs.
Why did you choose this specific internship?
I felt it was a great way to stay involved in the beef industry while being able to serve customers. I want to be able to give back to producers and the industry, and I believe that this was one way to do it while staying true to what I liked. Also, getting to see a new side of things that I could not learn anywhere else is very helpful.
What has been the best part of your internship so far?
So far, it’s been great getting to meet all the people and see all the different divisions. From going to Purina’s Farm and getting to see that and meet all the people there, to coming back and meeting other Farmers Cooperative employees and seeing all the different divisions was very neat as I got to see the people that care about the producers and how things start from an idea to ending as a finished product.
What are you most excited about this summer?
I’m looking forward to getting to start my different trials that I get to do over the summer. I will get to conduct them and be able to help the producer and others while out collecting data, to look at different variables, to help decide which way of application is best to make certain plans for fly control and grass nutrition.
What are the day-to-day tasks in your role?
Some of my day-to-day tasks include conducting and collecting data for my trials, talking to producers about data and follow-ups, and planning a producer day for the month of June.
What is your summer internship project?
This summer I am working on a fly monitor project on beef cattle.
What are your plans for after graduation?
My plans after graduation are to obtain a job in the agriculture field. I want to be able to contribute in my greatest way to agriculture, whether it be through sales or the research side of things. Along with that, I plan to run my own herd of Hereford and Red Angus cattle.
Fun fact?
I was named after a character in the John Wayne movie Rio Grande.
We’re glad to have Tyree on board this summer and look forward to seeing the contributions he makes during his internship!
