Brock Robinson
Meet Brock Robinson! This summer he is an agronomy intern located in Filley, NE.

Where are you from?
I grew up five miles north of Filley, NE on a small family farm.

Where do you go to college?
Right now, I go to Southeast Community College in Beatrice. I’m studying Agronomy and should be finishing up here in the fall.

Why did you choose to be an intern with Farmers Cooperative?
I chose to be an intern here because it’s close by. I worked for a different company last summer pretty similar to this so I thought it would be a good experience to work for the co-op and see if they do things the same or differently.

What are some of your daily tasks?
It really depends on the day. Sometimes I can go out and tend the sprayer and, earlier on, I was able to treat some seed because people were still planting. Otherwise, I will go to other locations and pick up seed, go scout some fields, or help around the shop doing maintenance on the sprayers or cleaning.

What is one thing you’ve learned recently that you didn’t think you would have?
I learned more about the chemical names, what they did, and how they vary from other companies since different companies sell different chemicals.

What has been your favorite part of your internship so far?
So far, my favorite part is all of the hands-on experience. For example, being able to run the seed treater, help customers when they need seed, and fill out the seed tickets. Last week I was able to go out and ride in the sprayer. I can also go out and scout a bean field using the app that we have.

Moving forward, what career/job path do you see yourself pursuing?
I see myself working in the co-op field and doing some of the same things I’m doing throughout this internship. I also want to keep up the family farm and help my dad with that.

What is one fun fact about yourself?
I have a twin brother. I also like to spend time outside with my friends and family and help my dad on the farm.
