Financial Literacy Month: Tools to Support Your Financial Wellness
Financial Literacy Month is observed every April to highlight the importance of financial education and responsible money management. It’s a time to raise awareness around key personal finance topics like budgeting, saving, investing, credit management, and debt reduction. Most importantly, it's a reminder that financial knowledge is a crucial life skill—one that empowers individuals to reach their goals and avoid common financial pitfalls.
At Farmers Cooperative, we’re committed to supporting our employees’ financial well-being. Below are several valuable financial benefits available to you:
1. SmartDollar

2. Life Insurance
Life insurance provides financial protection for your loved ones in the event of your passing. It helps cover expenses such as mortgage payments, debt, daily living costs, and future needs like college tuition.
All full-time employees are automatically enrolled in life insurance with coverage equal to 2.5 times your annual earnings—no action required. Be sure to keep your beneficiary information updated through ADP.
3. Disability Coverage
Short-term and long-term disability insurance protect your income if you’re unable to work due to illness or injury. These coverages are automatically provided to all full-time employees.
Short-Term Disability (STD):
-
Begins after 14 days of a qualifying illness or injury
-
Covers 70% of weekly earnings for up to 11 weeks
Long-Term Disability (LTD):
-
Begins immediately after STD ends
-
Covers 60% of monthly wages until retirement age
While no one plans to need disability coverage, it's reassuring to know you're protected if the unexpected happens.
